Handcrafted ring featuring an asymmetrical design of lustrous brass and a smooth pebble – the stone whispers with each gentle movement.

A modern version of the signet ring.

For their Open Call, Aurore de Heusch and Diederick van Hovell invited artists to interpret the signet ring in a contemporary context—creating a piece that expresses identity. My ring reflects the persistent flow of ideas and thoughts in my mind, which can be both a blessing and a challenge—a characteristic of my Asperger's syndrome. Beneath the stone, small brass pieces move and make sound, symbolising the endless stream of thoughts I experience.

The ring is part of my Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend project, which explores creative ways to repurpose a concrete drill core. I transform this industrial remnant into materials for jewellery and other objects. I use pigments derived from debris and the stones to bring sustainability into practice and demonstrate the potential of reused materials.

More info on this project can be found in my blog post project Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend and the exhibition exhibition DE VAN DEL MAC.

The open call by Aurore de Heusch and Diederick van Hovell inspired the creation of this modern take on a signet ring. This ring was part of the exhibition DE VAN DEL MAC at NOJ Gallery, Brussels, held during Brussels Jewellery Week from 25 April to 25 May 2024.
