Saskia makes jewellery, sculptures and in-between forms

As a child, Saskia makes small sculptures and jewellery with her finds from the street and nature. She graduates as a teacher of handicrafts from the art academy in Maastricht and works as a lighting planner. After years, losing a family member revives the need to give form to her feelings. She takes a day course in goldsmithing and turns her basement into a studio. She starts with jewellery made of precious metals. Over time, she returns to making sculptures. It leads to a diversity of materials in her jewellery. Saskia explores ways to work sustainably. It includes the whole making process and goes beyond using recycled materials. With her sculptures and jewellery, Saskia wants to encourage people to behave sustainably.
