This piece explores the loss, the ocean's depths, and the treasures it holds
The necklace, 'Lost at Sea,' is a wearable monument that draws attention to the lost and nameless. Crafted with pebbles, it unveils what was lost at sea—tangible remnants of longing missed by their loved ones. These pebbles echo the whispers of forgotten tales and the secrets held within the deep. They speak of voyages and the relentless passage of time, a sign of life awaited by those left behind.
The necklace is part of my Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend project. It's my investigation into the creative possibilities of a found concrete drill core. This core, once waste, is now a source of materials. The pigments from the debris and stones are used for jewellery and objects. The project is a facet of exploring sustainable practices that extend beyond the use of found and recycled materials.
