Inspired by the work of Lucio Fontana (19 Feb. 1899 - 7 Sept. 1968)

His work appeals to me for its texture and monochrome colours. Fontana, an Argentinian-Italian artist, founded spatialism by slicing or puncturing linen. These techniques create a unique interplay of material and meaning in his conceptual art.

My work as a lighting planner may influence this attraction. I am drawn to how light reveals texture, incisions, and holes, adding depth to his work.

Building on this inspiration, the cone on top of this ring has a canvas-like texture, catching the light differently each time it is worn. Luce is the Italian word for light, hence the title alla luce di Lucio.

This ring is 3D-printed in wax, after which the wax model is cast in 14kt gold using the classic lost-wax method.

I finish the ring by hand.
