Based on Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez (Seville, June 1599 – Madrid, 6 August 1660)
In Las Meninas (The Court Ladies, 1656), Diego Velázquez explores how we observe and are observed. This prompted me to ask: does social media change how we see ourselves and each other, or does it merely repeat a long-standing pattern of human behaviour?
With the sculpture I Spy With My Little Eye, I ask you: Is social media really new, or is it just a modern version of how we have always seen ourselves and others?
