This object visualises the essence of letting go
I look out of the window
enjoying the well-known view
the keys in my hand
just a little bit longer
then the chapter of my youth will close
the house is ready for a new story
In the video, you can see that stones can be lifted inside a pipe that has no bottom; however, when you move even slightly, the stones fall out. While clearing out my parents' house, I faced the challenge of letting go of belongings. Gradually, I found comfort in my memories, which helped me to move on.
While clearing out, I found a box of copper water pipes, which I used to make the ring and hinges. Because copper is a soft metal, I made the "pipe" double-walled by adding another piece that fit perfectly. You can still see some traces of the pipe's previous life.
This work is part of my project "Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend". The cherry wood I used came from a shipping crate that was once sent to us.
