People lose a part of themselves if they are not accepted as they are.
Extinct animals, plants, and cultures can be found in museums. My brooch symbolises the exclusion of people, as people lose a part of themselves if they are not accepted as they are. As an example of a disused custom, I hope exclusion will soon be displayed in a museum. After all, only vowels and consonants can form the word "PEACE." The back pins can be stored in the base when the brooch is on the stand. The brooch can be attached to textiles of varying thicknesses, thanks to the leather ovals.
This brooch is part of my Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend project. It's my investigation into the creative possibilities of a found concrete drill core. This core, once waste, is now a source of materials. The pigments from the debris and stones are used for jewellery and objects. The project is a facet of exploring sustainable practices that extend beyond the use of found and recycled materials.
