Beloved memories #5 expresses my affection towards my grandmothers dearest friend.

A friendship that started when they were four years old and ended 75 years later with the passing of my grandmother. She was called auntie in the family and was very fond of my father. After my father's death, we found comfort in each other and so she became friends with the third generation of our family. I admire her for her wisdom and contentment and I count myself lucky to have had the opportunity to share our first prize at the Jewelry Award with her. Two weeks later, she suddenly passed away. It remains a great loss.

It is one of the five brooches in the series Beloved Memories, for which I won first prize at the Jewelry Award 2017 for Design and Craftsmanship. The yearly the theme for the Jewelry Award changes and in 2017 it was Precious.

To me, Precious stands for the wisdom, encouragement, advice and love I have received in my life. It has made me the person I am today. The brooches each express the feeling I have with one dear one and the life wisdom that belongs to that person. By presenting the brooches as if they were a group of picture frames, I want to reinforce the feeling that they are about my loved ones and memories.

I cut the cobalt serpentine myself and made the stand by hand.

On my BLOG is the in memoriam Thank you Thea for this extraordinary woman.
