Beloved Memories #2 reflect my deep affection for my father’s cousin.
She became an only child after her younger sister died in an accident at age eight. I sensed she felt responsible for living for both herself and her sister. Her loss has deepened my appreciation for my own brother.
The brooch is one of five in the Beloved Memories series, which received first prize for Design and Craftsmanship at the 2017 Jewelry Award, where the theme was Precious.
To me, Precious is the wisdom, encouragement, advice, and love that shaped me. Each brooch expresses the feelings linked to a loved one. By displaying the brooches as a group of picture frames, I emphasise their connection to my loved ones and memories.
I cut the alabaster and handcrafted the stand.
